What is a Responder? |
The Team | The Wokingham Responder Group | ||
| ...a member of the public, trained by the Ambulance Service, who volunteers to help in their community by responding to medical emergencies before the arrival of an emergency ambulance. | At present there are 9 responders - Wendy, David, Nicola, Julia, Ted, Sophie, Alan, Collette, and recent new member, Steve. We are a diverse group of people who enjoy giving something back to our community. Being a responder is a serious business - that said we still manage to have fun when we meet to train and socialise. We would welcome more volunteers from any part of Wokingham and particularly those who live in Finchampstead. If you are interested please take a look at the SCAS website. |
A cheque for over £300 being presented to Steve Cartwright, David and Wendy, by the South Berkshire Singers. The money was raised through the choir’s Christmas concerts and carol singing events. |

As well as the support from
the South Berkshire Singers, we have received £200 from
Wokingham Town Council, who presented the cheque in April
2009.
Also, in April the Wokingham responders held a street collection which netted £215. We would like to thank the people of Wokingham for their generosity. Thanks also to the Inner Wheel of Bridgend in Wales who gave us £300+. We are working towards providing a second set of kit for Wokingham. Wokingham Responders have been to 11 call outs from Feb – June 2009. Please visit our extensive online shop where 80+ retailers give you enormous choice, great prices, AND pay us a commission. Remember our recycling schemes for mobile phones and printer cartridges. If you have other ideas or wish to make a donation, click here. If you do need to call an ambulance particularly at night please ensure, house lights are put on and if possible, someone stands outside to indicate the correct house. |
